Poetry and Quiz Competition conducted by the Interim Committee of PSA in August 2020.

"Poetry comes from the highest happiness or the deepest sorrows."
~ APJ Abdul Kalam

The Interim Committee of PSA had conducted a Poetry Competition as a part of our 'Independence Month Celebration' from 05 to 11 August 2020.
The winners of this competition are :-

1.) "Aakhri Khat" by Akshita Sharma

2.) "I have a munia ( Is Freedom Real?) by Anamika Gupta, TYBA - Political Science

A Munia Bird visits me, loaded with hundreds of questions;
She asks if Freedom exists?
She asks if it is real? She wishes no more Utopia, but the world is too surreal!
Her faith no longer lingers her, she lost it on her tour,
Placidly she watches as it passes, on to heavenly abode.

Dehumanizing treatment met to the women in Kupwaada,
Should we really trust the soldiers, is this freedom real?
Hammering iron nail in the body, hitting private parts;
Custodial death,the tortured hope, it's shredding Faith in Law apart.
Monsoon is blessing from the heaven, leading havoc in the chawls,
The sorrow of gutter flowing in kitchen,
 Its never known to the mind on linen who crawls.
Very few care about the rumbling stomachs of the infants, under the structures touching skies.
Munia asks if this massive gap in lives is freedom? Is this the freedom which is real?
Yet or maybe is freedom really real?

"We shall move in the intrest of the Nation Sire", we've been doing it all this while...
"Feel free to party in the disco lights, we'll survive selling our bodies, to pay the bribes... "
These are the words of a  poor soul, who once dwelled in the forest, it's only home..
'Rehabilitation'! Oh don't bother dear, we've begun living in reality; hunger cares little about the striking whips of partiality.
In this world speeding ahead, in Maternity Care and it's bliss;
The pandemic within the government,made a mother walk miles with the infant,
Who cares if the worn out slippers slips!
CISCO case is the output of deep rooted mentality,
Where the brilliant minds shine, in the surrealism of equality;
The bookish knowledge never surpass the 'Equality in Humanity'.
 Bewitched with the shackles of caste, which captures the brainy minds;
 The tired Munia in it's Catch-22 ,asks if FREEDOM IS REAL?

No one knows what happened of Mathura(the tribal girl) thereafter,
A tribal everyday is sure for the news...the attacks are rising faster!
Their howling screams through the forest, reaches not our ears...
Futile are the theories of Femininity & Respect - liers are the Seers.
Restless listening all this, meekly I suggest Munia to not care,
Mournful was I getting to know, she lost kith and kin on way,
The gap between Heaven and Husk, is too massive to say.
The Munia asks me and I fathom is this freedom real!

Women can't loiter, women can't scream, rapes happen behind the nupital screens,
The sacred sin has no recourse, either doused with kerosene or enslaved in unfettered chores.
Fractured skulls & ruptured Intestines, it's the scared silk on Delhi's wrist,
It turned out black and seine.
7 years  3 months and 4 days of Justice for Jyoti Singh,
Who cares about the real name, Nirbhaya is just fine!
 Yes! She's the same for whom, thousands of candles lit in line.
The wax melted out, but the spirit was the boon
We'll bring about a change in this world too soon,
"The brutal sexual assault on a minor girl in Delhi's Paschim Vihar", reads out Munia
 Scared too much, I stood petrified,
The question she raises, now it's very intensified, I look very placid with a pandemonium inside and the Munia goes on " Is this freedom real?"

Fast track courts are heaps of files,
Freedom is a bunch of well structured lies.
I have no answers for this Munia Bird,
I have none as mine!
The country's wound are fresh and it still weeps...
 The soul is tattered and it's creased;
You speak of freedom, is it inclusive of Peace?

3.) "Yes I am a man" by Aniruddha Phadke, TYBA - Political Science

Yes I am a man.

I love the colour pink
I wear pink clothes too,
Yes I am a man.

I cry while watching movies
I can fry in the kitchen too,
Yes I am a man.

I don't know the ABC of Cricket
'Girl's sport' Badminton is my favourite,
Yes I am a man.

I like wearing earrings sometimes
I like growing my nails,
Yes I am a man.

I don't like going to gym
I have no interest in sport bikes or cars,
Yes I am a man.

I don't abuse
I am 'homely' in that sense,
I love babies,
Yes I am a man.

Having all these qualities
makes me a man.
These are my trademarks.
I have the freedom to do this
and this is my 'aazadi'.
